For parents with three young children planning to go on holiday, finding a hotel or resort can be very frustrating. Most hotels and resorts base their pricing on two adults and 2 children under the age of 12 sharing a room together. This is the maximum occupancy that most hotels will allow in their standard rooms. If you have a third child that sleeps in a cot (crib) they will usually allow it, but the moment that child needs a rollaway bed your option to book only one room declines greatly.
Families of five are forced by most hotels to take two rooms. This means the family must take the risk to be split up because, although hotels will try their best, they will not often guarantee interconnecting rooms. The other problem is that having to pay for two rooms doubles the cost of your accommodation cost. This may be fine for some families but may take away the option of going on holiday for others.
Another option often available is to upgrade to a suite which offers larger accommodations. Of course this also cost a lot more and either way, families with three children usually end up paying much more for their holidays.
We are a family with three young children ourselves so know full well the frustration this can cause. Therefore on each property profile we have highlighted the option for a family of five (FAMILY OF FIVE). We have also put together a list of resorts that will allow a family of five to share a standard room together. Generally this means a room with two queen beds and a rollaway bed or a pull out couch for your third child. Sometimes there is a charge for the rollaway but this is usually well worth it compared to the cost of two rooms!

Many more options are available and also well worth considering are those resorts that offer a room type that will accommodate a family of five, at a rate less than the cost of two standard rooms:
